Broad valley bottom, mostly in agriculture and urban development. This is one of few forested tracts remaining. Most of block is successional cherry - ash - locust, but smaller, wetter areas have more "natural" vegetation types.;Combined floodplain of Chenoweth Creek and Tygart Valley River. Wetland areas are influenced by natural levees and oxbows and also by railroad. Young wetland forest along this side of tracks in dominated by red maple and black gum. There are deciduous and evergreen hollies in the shrub layer. Ground layer is dominated by dewberry and ferns. Soils are acidic w/ some wetland indicators.
Representativeness
Small patch of forested wetland on floodplain - similar canopy found in small old growth patch, which has lost it's wetland hydrology. This patch is younger but more representative.
